The BEE here …
I’m so very proud of my dedicated and hard working Monkey. He has received one of six nominations to Grand Marshal the 2019 Dallas Pride Parade. When I was writing his completely biased nomination, I couldn’t help but stop myself and think would I vote for Frank if he wasn’t my husband? The answer is YES!
When Frank and I were dating and really starting to get serious he handed me a $2 bill and told me to keep it because then I would never be without. This is the type of guy that Frank is. He is the guy that will defend a perfect stranger if he believes they are being mistreated or send you a random text message just to let you know someone is thinking about you. Whether he is sticking up for a cashier to a rude customer or advocating for LGBT Homeless Youth, he is always willing to do whatever it takes to help someone out. I’ve watched him give his last dollars to a friend in need, open his home to someone who is struggling, donate his time and energy to causes that help the community, and he still thinks he needs to do more.
Some of his “credits” include: President (and member) of R.E.B.A., The Round-Up Employee Benevolent Association, Organizer of the “Feed The Community” Thanksgiving Event that gives clients of the Resource Center a place to go for the Holiday; as well as others who might otherwise not have a place to go, Administrator of Wine Walk which raises money for the Cedar Springs Merchant Association for the beautification and upkeep of the neighborhood, volunteer with the Nelson Tibedo clinic and many other organizations. As a co-owner of Monkey & The Bee, he has donated to Lost Souls Rugby, Dallas Thunder Kitties, Legacy Founder’s Cottage & Counseling, The Resource Center, The True Colors Fund, National Center for Transgender Equality, H.E.L.P Ft. Worth, Tucker’s Gift, and multiple local charity auctions and fundraisers. One of the first things that Frank wanted to be able to do when we started Monkey & The Bee was to give back. Although we are a small company we do what we can to help out whenever we are asked.
When I was summing up my nomination form online, I ended with something like:
If you were to call Frank and tell him that he was a nominee for the Grand Marshal position of the Dallas Pride Parade, not only would he be flattered but he would also give you a list of 10 other people that he thought did more than him. This is the type of person Frank is … and one of many reasons why he is deserving of this nomination.
When he did get the call he told me “I’m flattered … but I don’t do as much as those other people do.” I disagree. He is our rock, our foundation, our support system, our friend … Frank is our “good juju.”
